Previous projects to develop and review National Occupational Standards (NOS) include the following:

  • Policing and Law Enforcement (2010)

    As part of a wider review of NOS for Policing and Law Enforcement, NOS were developed for:

    Civil Contingencies (2007-2008)

    This cross-sector project involved a wide range of agencies with a role in responding to civil emergencies such as police, fire and rescue services, health services, local authorities, government agencies and third sector organisations.  To view the NOS for Civil Contingencies, please click here.

    Inspection of Public Services (2006-2007)

    This cross-sector project involved organisations providing inspection and review of public services across the UK including police, probation, courts, prosecution, health, care and education services. To view the NOS for Inspection of Public Services, please click here

  • Commissioning in the Public Sector (2009-2010)

    Effective commissioning is of growing importance both within central government and across the wider public sector.  Development of the NOS involved agencies and organisations across the public sector, including justice, health, care, local authorities and the devolved administrations of the UK.

    Processing (2009-2010)

    The NOS for Processing are for those involved in managing and/or supporting the delivery of services following interaction with the customer/end-user.  This applies within Operational Delivery - the professional group of personnel employed directly by government departments or agencies who are involved in delivering services and procedures in line with agreed policy.

  • Review of NOS for the health sector (2009-2010)

    This project was a major review of existing NOS within the health sector, with the aim of reducing duplication and making the NOS more easily accessible to users.  The project included a quality assurance process and reformatting of NOS to ensure consistency in style of presentation.

    Healthcare in Police Custody Settings (2006-2007)

    This project, commissioned by the Home Office, developed NOS for healthcare professionals working in police custody settings e.g. forensic medical examiners, nurses and paramedics. To view the NOS, please click here.

    Coronary Heart Disease Phase 3 (2006)
