Competence frameworks

A competence framework provides a description of the standards of performance and knowledge required to undertake activities in a particular area of work. Previous competence frameworks developed include the following:

Support, Time and Recovery (STR) workers

Developed for the National Institute of Mental Health in England (Department of Health, 2008).

Public and patient involvement in the health and social care sector

Developed for Skills for Health (2008).

Functional map for the Justice sector

Developed following the formation of Skills for Justice sector and subsequently maintained and up-dated (2005 to present).

Drug and alcohol service training provision

Developed and piloted in collaboration with Alcohol Concern and DrugScope in a project for the Home Office (1998-1999).
